Front Page News · Apr 27, 08:00 PM

The front page of today’s Concord Monitor features an overview of the advocacy, debate, research and writing that have occupied me these past few years — A forceful voice in autism debate, by Margot Sanger-Katz. In addition to interviewing me at length, Ms. Sanger-Katz interviewed Dr. Mark Geier, Amy Carson of Moms Against Mercury, and Dr. Irving Gottesman of the University of Minnesota. (Subpoena-meister Clifford Shoemaker, Esq. did not return her call.) Many thanks to Ms. Sanger-Katz for her comprehensive, sympathetic discussion of my work.

Also, Friday’s Charlotte Observer included an account of Dr. Rashid Buttar’s hearing before the North Carolina Medical Board. The review panel has recommended that Dr. Buttar be prohibited from treating children or patients with cancer, and that his license to practice medicine be suspended indefinitely. The Board is expected to issue an official decision by July 2008. This story has been blogged at Respectful Insolence, Science-Based Medicine and Left Brain/Right Brain. Once the Board issues a final decision, you’ll be able to find it here.

  1. I’m so happy to see the recognition you got from the Concord Monitor. I bet certain lawyers are wishing that they didn’t have so many metaphorical skeletons in their metaphorical closets about now.

  3. What a weekend! Sucks to be Shoemaker or Buttar, but hey, that’s what eventually happens when you leave the reality-based universe.

  5. I haven’t commented on this until now, but having watched the whole debacle from the outset, I would like to say that at least some of my faith in humanity has been restored. Congratulations and keep fighting the good fight.

  8. What Ms Clark said! (but adding that certain “doctors” are wishing they didn’t have those skeletons in their closets, too). Buttar is whipped.
